Can we know the truth without relying on our physical senses? Modern scepticism, believing only in what the five physical senses perceive, blocks our perception of the real. Even many of those who seek the truth through a spiritual path are unaware of the power of the Inner Mind
It is certain that the intellect, in the way we have developed it, acts as a prison for the human soul. Our worship of intellect has caused us to lose the ability to perceive what is invisible to the physical senses.
For centuries, sceptical materialism has poisoned our way of thinking and feeling. However, a superior faculty waits to be awakened within you.
This faculty does not depend on religious dogmas or external scientific theories. On the contrary, it requires a very deep and direct psychological thinking.
If you wish to dispel doubt, you need to explore your profound mental processes. As things stand, you live conditioned by concepts that limit your true vision.
The path towards real wisdom begins with an internal change. It is necessary to open the Inner Mind to experience the real.
The Three Minds
The Venerable Master Samael Aun Weor, in his book The Great Rebellion, teaches that we have three minds. These are:
- Sensual Mind.
- Intermediate Mind.
- Inner Mind.
Let us study each of these separately.
The Sensual Mind bases its concepts on external sensory perceptions. Therefore, it is materialistic. It is incapable of accepting what is not physically proven.
Being based solely on external data, it has no knowledge of the truth. It is ignorant of the mysteries of life, soul, and spirit.
The Intermediate Mind is where all our beliefs about truth and reality are stored, as dogma and theory. However, believing is not the same as experiencing reality.
For this reason, it does not know the truth directly. The Intermediate Mind contains what others have taught us.
By contrast, the Inner Mind is born from one’s own experience. Its concepts are based in information that comes from the superlative consciousness of the Being.
The consciousness can experience the real. There is no doubt that consciousness knows truth. However, the consciousness needs to express through a mediator, an instrument of action, which is the Inner Mind.
To live in the Intermediate Mind is to inhabit a world of doubts. Living in the Sensual Mind means being trapped in materialism. Therefore, we must transcend both beliefs and materialism to awaken the Inner Mind.
What prevents the awakening of the Inner Mind?
The poison of scepticism has been infecting human minds since the 18th century. It is what caused us to stop being able to perceive the real.
Before that time, humanity was able to see dimensions that today seem like legends or fantasies, such as the island of San Borondon in the Canaries (named after the Irish saint, Brendan). Subsequently, the excessive development of the intellect and the animal Ego blocked those superior senses.
Nowadays, people who claim to be knowledgeable laugh at nature’s mysteries. Unfortunately, they prefer vain intellectualism to true happiness.
The Master Samael Aun Weor defines these people as “learned ignoramuses”, who live trapped in a psychological dead end. They cannot understand the profundity of the Inner Mind. They are victims of a self-sufficiency that clouds their judgment. Materialistic scepticism is the characteristic of ignorance.
The difference between faith and belief
There is great confusion between faith and belief. It is important to understand that these are completely different psychological states.
Belief is something that is blindly accepted without ever having seen it. Faith, on the other hand, is the direct perception of the real.
People usually hold their beliefs in the intellectual memory (Intermediate Mind). However, faith is lived wisdom and personal experience.
A person who has authentic faith does not need to believe other people’s theories. People today are full of doubts due to lack of experience.
Faith is born only when we open our Inner Mind. This faculty is the result of exact knowledge.
Practical guide to open the Inner Mind
Awakening this faculty requires daily and constant discipline. For this reason, we must learn to think psychologically.
First, accept the reality of your own psychology in every moment. However, do not try to change anything without first observing your reactions.
Second, practise the self-observation of your negative thoughts and emotions. Otherwise, if you forget yourself, you will fail.
Third, identify the undesirable elements that arise within you. Currently, these defects block the light of your Inner Mind.
Finally, comprehend each error in order to gradually release your essence. Daily work with a continuity of purpose is the key to success.
Results of the practice
Work upon oneself produces very real fruits. Through it, the student experiences a profound transformation.
Whoever eliminates their defects recovers the memory of their past lives. This knowledge does not come from external books.
True wisdom is born from direct and lived experience, while intellectualism only offers empty theories.
Knowing the mysteries of life and death is possible. Currently, humanity knows nothing of these realities due to an absolute lack of faith.
If you have discipline, you can eliminate your own psychological defects. Therefore, success depends on your daily efforts.
The goal of the path is the awakening of consciousness. There is no doubt that peace comes through truth.
Inner Mind: The path towards personal transformation
Awakening does not happen by chance; personal transformation requires firm decision and determined steps.
Use these tools to change your way of seeing life. However, remember that real change happens from moment to moment.
Every conscious effort frees you from ignorance. Wisdom is within your Inner Mind. Begin your own work of inner transformation today.
