Drama

Occasionally, amidst the relentless pace of daily life, we wonder: Who am I? Why am I here? What’s life all about?
We go through life experiencing it as a series of events and circumstances and we have no idea why these things happen. We have no knowledge of the origins of our personal drama.

Not only do we not know, but we do not even know that we don’t know!
This ignorance places us in a difficult and peculiar position. We believe ourselves to be in control of our life, while the reality is the opposite.

This lack of inner knowledge is the root of the personal problems that repeat again and again throughout the course of our life.

The Illusion of Progress: Why the Drama Returns

The human being is exceedingly fragile. Even a person of great social influence, left alone in the Sahara Desert, far from any oasis, would quickly reveal their vulnerability.

We tend to think highly of ourselves. We assume that progress comes from accumulating academic degrees or achieving high economic status. We imagine that professional prestige or family reputation should guarantee happiness.
However, in many cases, even with all of this, unhappiness persists. Any circumstance affects us. Beneath everything, we remain unhappy.

A glance at world history confirms this. Rightly, Master Samael Aun Weor writes in Revolutionary Psychology:
“We are the same barbarians as before. Instead of improving, we have become worse.”

The modern world proves the point: we have better technologies, greater comforts and abundant scientific knowledge, yet wars, conflicts and betrayals continue.

Master Samael states: To think that time signifies progress is absurd.”

Across the centuries, wars have been driven by the same motives: ambition, arrogance and fear. They are not accidents; they are part of our civilisation.
The constant repetition of these dramas reveals a fundamental truth: what truly matters is the inner state of each individual.

The Level of Being Defines Your Life

For a nation or a society to change, each individual must first change. A group is like a mirror, reflecting the nature of those who form it; each person contains the elements that make up the whole.
For this reason, the transformation of our world depends on the self-transformation of every person.

People organise themselves in different social circles. Within a single society you find very religious individuals, others who work hard, those who like to go out to nightclubs, some are immersed in farming, others in business or technology.
In the same way that we gravitate towards those who have the same interests as us, our internal Level of Being also acts as an inner magnet, attracting the circumstances that surround us. When we talk about the Level of Being, we refer to what a person is within himself: altruistic or miserly, generous or selfish, compassionate or cruel.

A lustful person will always attract scenes of desire, betrayal and infidelity. A drinker will attract other drinkers and end up getting drunk in pubs and bars.

What will a selfish or deceitful person attract?

What will an ambitious or an angry person attract?

Every circumstance that arises is a reflection of what we are. This is why Master Samael Aun Weor affirms that the external world is a reflection of the internal.
Here lies the root of every personal drama.

If your Level of Being does not change, the drama of your life will continue to repeat itself..

The Repetition of the Drama: Why Change Seems Impossible

Many people suffer and are weary of their pain. They want to change and leave all the bad things behind them, but they do not know how. They want to improve, but they don’t have the precise steps to achieve it.

They keeping falling into the same mistakes; what happened yesterday repeats itself tomorrow. The never seem to learn. Their life becomes a cycle: they say, do and regret the same things again and again.
This endless repetition of dramas happens because of the undesirable elements within us: the “I’s”.

These elements are Laziness, Anger, Gluttony, Greed, Lust, Envy and Pride.

Their expression in the way we think, feel and act defines our Level of Being. Therefore, unless we undertake a radical transformation, our dramas and misfortunes will continue.

Ending the Drama: The First Step Towards Radical Change

To achieve radical change, we must understand something essential: each of us is at a specific Level of Being.

To understand this, we need to reflect sincerely on the following:
What is your moral level? Have you ever truly examined this?

It is impossible to move to a new level while being ignorant of the level we are at now. Being poor is not a crime; the issue is the Level of Being. To illustrate this simply: imagine someone living in poverty who is also addicted to alcohol.

This person is selfish, envious, jealous, fearful. Because of this, they have conflicts, arguments, they get drunk and they tell lies.
Most of the people they spend time with are psychologically similar. Their friends face the same problems and experience similar situations

If this person were to eliminate from their psyche hatred, envy, selfishness and drunkenness, they would naturally become more likeable. They would naturally begin to associate with people of a different cultural level. Such relationships would mark a decisive shift in their social life.

This is the system through which we can end the drama of our life. When we change radically from within, our circumstances change.

If you truly wish to end the drama and the suffering, you must get to know your Level of Being — your moral level. This is the only possible starting point.

Now that you understand how to identify your Level of Being, you hold the key to ending the repetition of your drama. Transformation begins today.
