Individuality

Have you ever wondered whether you truly possess individuality?
Do you sometimes doubt yourself because of contradictory ideas that arise in your mind?

These inner contradictions occur because our divine and immortal essence – the source of our true individuality – is asleep and is divided into multiple psychological aspects.

This multiplicity – the polar opposite of individuality – is the ego, or psychological aggregates (anger, lust, envy etc).

These psychological aggregates fragment our consciousness. These multiple “I’s” prevent inner unity and, for this reason, we are unable to feel the peace, freedom and happiness of our soul.

But how can we know if this is true? We can verify it by becoming aware of the many different “I’s” that manifest themselves in us every day. Begin by asking yourself:

If you answer yes to any of these questions, you have not yet achieved individuality.

How to Attain Individuality

By eliminating the ego, authentic individuality emerges. In the absence of ego, latent energies within the body awaken. The higher vehicles of expression of the Being develop, and the opportunity arises to fully express the values of the spirit.

If you long for inner unity, you need to develop self-observation, looking within yourself to discover what manifests in every moment.
It is necessary to observe without justifying or condemning what we see. By comprehending our psychological mechanisms, we take an important step towards the death of the ego.

For this reason, it is important to practise meditation, the transmutation of our energies, and selfless service for our fellow men.
These three aspects speed up our spiritual progress.

The goal of life is to achieve personal mastery: to transform ourselves into a conscious, loving and creative being.
Those who learn from life become masters and can teach others.

Obstacles To Inner Unity

Most of us live in a state of ignorance regarding our true nature. This ignorance prevents us from recognising the divinity that resides within us.
To attain individuality, it is essential to transcend this ignorance and seek true knowledge (gnosis).

This world keeps people distracted and disconnected from their true essence. The quest for inner unity requires detachment from material illusions and an active pursuit of a spiritual reality that transcends the physical.

Our lack of inner illumination clouds our understanding and traps us in internal conflicts.
This situation is worsened by self-love and self-consideration, which lead us to justify our psychological defects and defend the ego.

The good news is that every one of us has a divine spark. This spark represents our true nature — a fragment of God within us.
Recognising and cultivating this spark is fundamental to developing individuality and connecting with our Inner Being, our own God. Through this connection, we can express ourselves authentically.

It is also important to understand our own mind and emotions so that we can free ourselves from inner limitations and discover who we truly are.

Without a doubt, the tools for self-knowledge are based on practices such as meditation and contemplation. These practices calm the mind and allow deeper immersion into the inner being.

Meditation enables us to know our own Inner Being and helps us to free ourselves from the distractions that prevent us from focusing on what truly matters.

The Spirit is real; what is transient is the material world. To spend our lives distracted by the transient while forgetting what is real within us is to sadly waste the opportunity that life offers us.

Understanding that our life is a journey, and that our destination is our very source, is fundamental. This path requires introspection, self-criticism and the development of inner unity. Each step towards self-knowledge brings you closer to union with the Divine.

Consequences of not having Individuality

The absence of individuality generates a fragmented will, repeated mistakes, chronic exhaustion and painful recurrences that lead to spiritual involution.

When a person’s essence is trapped, fascination with negativity arises. Then lust, anger, greed, vanity, and similar impulses are felt to be more important than the deep peace, freedom and happiness that spiritual progress offers.
These egoic expressions prevent any possibility of inner peace and block the expression of the soul.

In today’s world, healthy family and friendship relationships collapse under the weight of gossip, envy and manipulation. People without individuality are easily manipulated, creating wars, corruption, moral degeneration and discord throughout society.

Spiritually, modern humanity is degenerating. Disconnected from higher realities, people become incapable of attaining wisdom or divine connection. This accelerates the loss of spiritual values and takes them to lower levels of Being.

Physically, the expression of the multiple “I’s” manifests as illness, premature ageing, and diminished vitality.

The most serious consequence is the absence of a life purpose. Without inner serenity, life is reduced to meaningless suffering. In the end, death comes and the person dies as he lived: without having awakened consciousness.

Practices to Achieve Individuality

These practices are designed to foster individuality, introspection and connection with the divine within us.

“My Mother, come to my aid. Disintegrate this ego!”
Visualise the ego as a cloud that transforms into cosmic dust.

4. Physical exercise and movement
Find a physical activity you enjoy. This not only improves health but also helps you to connect with yourself.

5. Retrospection exercise

Lie on your right side and relax the body through conscious breathing.
Review the day as if watching a film in reverse.
Reflect on each ego that manifested during the day.

6. Use mantras, such as “OM”, to activate consciousness. Prayer to the Inner Father and fasting also help with comprehending psychological defects.

Through these practices, individuality gradually emerges, your will becomes unified, you feel a deep peace within and your divine connection becomes stronger.
