In Gnostic teaching, the chakras are magnetic centres that can be activated through the use of the Verb. They are not merely energy points but internal organs of higher perception.
The chakras function as organs that receive energy. This energy, absorbed and processed by each chakra, is transmitted to the interconnected nervous and vascular filaments (plexuses), which they influence.
The Venerable Master Samael Aun Weor explains that the chakras are developed through conscious practice and transmutation of our energies.
This article offers a practical guide to activating the chakras. It is not mere theory; it is a living path designed to help you experience Gnosis directly.
The Nature of the Chakras and the Verb
The chakras are connected to the endocrine system and to the higher functions of the psyche. Each centre pertains to a spiritual ability, which is why their activation requires inner purity and discipline.
The Verb is one of the keys to awakening these centres. Sacred sound, pronounced with precise intention, causes the etheric substance to vibrate. In Logos, Mantram, Teurgia, the Venerable Master Samael Aun Weor states:
“Phonetic combination, done, with wisdom produces mantras. So, a mantra is a wise combination of letters whose sounds determine spiritual, psychic, and even physical effects.”
Daily vocalisation, combined with the transmutation of energy, brings about the activity of the chakras.

Practice for the Development of the Seven Chakras
1. Muladhara – Coccygeal Chakra
Located at the base of the spine, in the coccygeal bone. The coccyx is the foundation of the spinal column. It is the root of the sacred fire and the base of the awakening of the igneous serpent.
The mantram S activates this chakra. The recommended posture is seated with the spine straight. Inhale deeply, and as you exhale, vocalise “Sssssss” continuously and softly, making the sound of air escaping from a tyre. This practice awakens the basic centre and strengthens willpower This is where the conscious action of the Verb begins.
2. Swadhisthana – Prostatic/Uterine Chakra
This chakra is located at the level of the prostate (or uterus). The mantram that makes this centre vibrate is M, pronounced with the lips closed, raising and lowering the tone. Its power is unique.
Vocalise the letter “M” with closed lips, as if imitating the lowing of a bull. When this chakra becomes active, it grants the ability to leave the physical body in the astral body, allowing movement beyond the physical realm. Here, the Verb directs the creative energies towards higher aims.
3. Manipura – Solar Plexus Chakra
Located just above the navel. The mantram U directly stimulates this chakra. Vocalise it in a prolonged tone while seated, keeping your attention on the solar plexus. Inhale deeply, filling the abdomen with air; then exhale gently while pronouncing “Uuuuuu,” allowing the vibration to expand. The pronunciation is ‘oo’ as in the word ‘soon’.
When developed, this chakra grants the faculty of telepathy.
4. Anahata – Heart Chakra
Situated in the heart. When developed, it awakens intuition and conscious love.
The mantram O energises this chakra. It is vocalised in a serene posture, with deep breathing and focused attention on the heart. As you exhale, pronounce “Oooooo.” Feel the vibration expand within the chest. The pronunciation is ‘o’ as in the word ‘dog’.
The Venerable Master Samael Aun Weor teaches that this centre allows us to hear the inner voice
5. Vishuddha – Laryngeal Chakra
This centre is located in the throat and is linked to the thyroid gland. The mantram E awakens this chakra. While seated with the spine upright, inhale deeply and vocalise “Eeeee” in a steady tone. It is pronounced as in the word ‘egg’.
Keep your attention fixed on the throat, sensing the vibration. This conscious practice awakens clairaudience.
6. Ajna – Chakra of the Brow
Positioned at the midbrow, between the eyebrows. it is associated with the pituitary gland. The mantram I is essential for this centre. Inhale deeply, filling the lungs with air; then exhale while pronouncing “iiiiiiiiiiiiii,” concentrating fully on the midbrow. The sound is pronounced like in the word ‘feel’.
This practice awakens clairvoyance, allowing perception of the human aura and the higher worlds.
7. Sahasrara – Crown Chakra
Located at the crown of the head and linked to the pineal gland. Sahasrara represents union with the divine.
The awakening of this marvellous chakra bestows polyvision, through which one can study the memories of nature.
Conclusion: The Verb as the Key to Inner Awakening
The development of the chakras is a genuine path of transformation, not merely a spiritual theory. Through discipline, energy, and devotion, these inner centres awaken, allowing us to experience realities that transcend ordinary perception.
The sacred Verb is the practical key that activates this process. The conscious vibration of the mantrams awakens the hidden powers within. Without the strength of the Verb and the transmutation of energies, no steady progress is possible.
This spiritual path requires perseverance and purity. It is not about accumulating information but about living the teaching day by day. Correct vocalisation, combined with inner transformation, turns knowledge into direct experience. In this way, the soul is strengthened and consciousness is illuminated.
